I am trying to create a slideshow project with Photos 3.0 in High Sierra with a large album of 232 photos. The problem is that the slides for the project end up in random order, and manual reordering will be real pain. I managed to keep my album ordering in a slideshow project when there were only 192 photos, a subset of the 232. I thought that there might be an issue with the first photo of the 232, which is cropped to an odd size. If I take only the first 11 photos for a slideshow, including the oddly cropped one, I still get randomization. That cropping theory was busted, however, when I tried to create a slideshow without the first photo; the remaining 231 photos were still randomized. Any suggestions?

Even when I start with an empty slideshow and drag the photos into the film strip one after another, Photos does no longer add the added photos at the end of the film strip but at a random position. In especially, the videos will not stay put but be distributed all over the place.

I have not selected any theme yet. There is no point in doing so with the degree of initial scrambling in the creation of a big slideshow project. That does not work for me at all, because the "+ Add Photos" view only shows the Moments view. There is not even a search field, and the sidebar with the albums is missing. My library is moderately sized, with only fifty thousand photos and videos, but having to track down the photos I want for my slideshow in the Moments with 50000 photos, without access to my albums, is not feasible.

I had the same problem and Apple is aware of this. Here is your solution. Press the control key and then click on the album that has the photos organized the way you want. The menus will pop up and slide your arrow over to create and the slide it over to slide show. Once you've done that you will have a slideshow of the album in the order you want.

Not really a reply but thanks for the information. I have been struggling with this issue on a slideshow. Have not been able to find any information on the Apple website. I will now make an album with the photos in the order I want and then convert to a new slideshow. Do you know if I will still be able to apply text?
